Let Us Remember to Pray, Fast & Meditate during this Lenten Season

African Methodist Episcopal Church Fifth Episcopal District Southern Conference Women’s Missionary Society Monthly Devotional March 2017

For the month of March, our focus is on the Lenten season, our Daniel Fast, and our own

Mid-Year Convocation.

We celebrate the Lenten season during March. Lent is a period of fasting and penitence (self-examination and repentance). This is the first year the WMS Fifth Episcopal District will participate in a for

ty-day corporate Daniel Fast during the Lenten season. The Daniel Fast is a spiritually motivated diet based on the Biblical Book of Daniel. It refers to the abstinence from foods declared unclean by God in the Laws of Moses. We will commence the fast on March 1st and conclude it on April 9th. What should you expect to gain by going on the Daniel Fast during the Lenten Season? According to Rev. Dr. Charles Dorsey, you can expect “a life changing experience with the Holy Spirit that will manifest in your life through this process.”

The Mid-Year Convocation is where members of the Fifth Episcopal District assemble together for training workshops, worship services, and fellowship. This year’s event will take place March 13th – 16th at the Renaissance Denver Stapleton Hotel in Denver, Colorado.

“But you are a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a Holy Nation, God’s special possession,

that you may declare the praises of him who called you out of darkness into his wonderful light.” 1 Peter 2:9 (NIV)

Heavenly Father we thank you for choosing us to be a royal priesthood and a Holy Nation. We declare your praises. You have brought us out of darkness into your wonderful light.

Let us remember to pray, fast, and meditate during this Lenten Season, always giving thanks and praise to our Lord and Savior for bringing us into His light
