African Methodist Episcopal Church 5th Episcopal District Southern California Conference WMS
August
Say “Hello” to August; the eighth month of the calendar year, and “Hello” to a fresh start. The number eight in the Bible signifies Resurrection and Regeneration. It is the number of a new beginning. Eight is 7 plus 1 and since it comes just after seven, which in itself signifies an end or a completion to something, the eight is correlated with the beginning of a new era.
The Bible says: “Forget the former things; do not dwell on the past. See, I am doing a new thing! Now it springs up; do you not perceive it? I am making a way in the wilderness and streams in the wasteland” (Isaiah 43:18-19) NIV
Let us start by commemorating those that have gone on to start their very own new beginning with our lord and savior Jesus Christ. On August 19th 2017 at 1st AME church in Pasadena California, we will be having the Tanner Turner Memorial service at 9:00am,
Which will also be when we will be holding the Summer Institute/Executive board meeting to review and close former ventures to begin a-new.
“See, I will create new heavens and a new earth. The former things will not be remembered, nor will they come to mind” (Isaiah 65:17). NIV
Dear Heavenly Father, we come to you first and foremost with a thank you from our very spirits for all that you have done, for all that you are doing now. And for all that you will be doing with us in the future. God we as ask that you would allow us not to forget those that you breathed life into in order to do your work on this earth, that have completed their assignments and are now back home with you father. We thank you for the time you spent walking with them so that they were able to help us to walk with you. We ask that you renew us as we attend the Executive board meeting and allow us to have a fresh spirit for the days to come in your doing your work, For whatever we do whether in word or deed, we do it all in the name of our lord Jesus Christ (Colossians 3:17).
